Western civilization: The state GDP version

The Commerce Department is out with its state GDP numbers. America looks like this right now:

The strong showing up and down the left coast is perhaps the most interesting thing about the numbers.

Also, if you follow the link to page 6 of the report, you’ll see the states listed by region. Most interesting to me is how Indiana has propped up the midwestern average the past few years, especially in 2010 and 2012.¬†As Joel Kotkin has written, the Great Lakes states are probably the most varied and difficult to predict in terms of where they’ll go economically and politically.
