No other state can say this…

Last week the WSJ wrote about the tax deal that Mike Pence and lawmakers in Indiana reached in a piece focused on how GOP governors and legislatures are clashing on taxes. Indiana came out looking pretty good.

Implied in the article but not stated explicitly is that Indiana not only got a tax cut package through, but it did so without raising taxes elsewhere.

Today, Katrina Trinko at National Review focuses a bit more on Pence and the tax deal in Indiana. She highlights the same point but adds even more color. The tax cut in Indiana was done in a budget that grew state spending at Mitch Daniels levels of parsimony, while raising spending on education and roads.

Indiana held steady at #5 in Chief Executive’s best states for business ranking, and #1 in the Midwest.

It’s been a good week for the Hoosier state.
